Galway Records

April 2, 2018  All of this information and 20 times more is now available online at various sites (see my Irish Links page) but given how much work this was, no harm in leaving it.

Obligatory disclaimer: No claims are made to the accuracy of any on-line records. I have attempted to be as accurate as possible, but at times, interpretation is close to impossible and transcribing mistakesvery likely exist. The researcher must obtain copies of the original documents for their records to insure accuracy. Copied to the best of my ability. Townland and Surnames spellings vary. Transcribed and Submitted by: John McGing.

The following are records Sr. Helen obtained from the Galway Heritage Center and I have not yet been able to find the matching LDS film for them. They are not from LDS films. Note that McGing was often in the Mayo records shown as GING until the mid 1830s, where it commonly was shown as McGing. These records from Galway show the name as Ging into the 1900s. For an explanation of the names, see this link. Perhaps people with the surname of Ging today can trace themselves back to these Galway McGings?
