LaVerneLydiaPowers (nee Horn) age 93, born May 11, 1923 in Chicago; loving wife of the late John Powers; cherished mother of Kathleen (John) Rovy and Donna (David) Cleppe; loving grandmother of Timothy Rovy and Evan Cleppe; adored daughter of the late Lydia and Edward Horn; cherished sister of the late Raymond (the late Lorain) Horn, the late Norman (the late Regina) Horn; fond sister- in-law of Joan Powers; also many nieces and nephews. Laverne was known for being a very kind person who always looked nice and had earrings to match every outfit. She was often seen wearing purple, her favorite color. She worked at Sears Roebuck & Co., where she met her husband, John. They were married in September 1952. After she had her two daughters she stayed home to raise them and care for her aging parents. She lived in her Chicago home for over 52 years, and then in her late 80's moved into assisted living at The Waterford in Indiana. She spent her final months living at The Sunset House in Indiana. She loved playing bingo (because she often won), having lunch at Red Lobster, and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Watching them win the World Series was a dream come true for her. She was always pleasant and had a smile on her face until the end. She passed away peacefully in her sleep (3 days before her 94th birthday), joining her family in heaven. Funeral Services and Interment were held privately.

Visitation for Joan M. Powers (nee Feeley) 93 is from 10-11 AM Monday March 29, 2021 at the Kristan Funeral Home PC, Mundelein, IL. Funeral mass will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church 22333 West Erhart Rd. Mundelein. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.

Joan was born May 31, 1927 in Chicago and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

She loved to go to parties, especially family parties. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan also enjoyed large print crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her children Denise (Jerry) McMahon, Dawn (Jim) Smith, Mary Beth (Brian) Edmondson, her sister Margaret McMahon, grandchildren Matthew (Linda) Smith, Jeremiah (Jen) McMahon, Paul (Cassie) Smith, Michael (Lauren) Edmondson, Patrick (Lindsay) McMahon, Kevin (Katy) McMahon, Robert Edmondson, her great grandchildren TJ, Clare, Colin, Sienna, Sean, Amelia and Sebastian. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael and her brother Donald Feeley.

Linda Davis was born on June 12, 1948. She and William David Hutchins were married in September 1964 in FloridaG. She died on February 18, 2016, at age 67.
